Decking not only allows you more space to walk around your garden (no matter the weather), but is ideal for setting a table, chairs and even a BBQ on. There are, however, a number of different types of decking to choose from, which can prove to be quite confusing. That’s why we have composed this blog which will explain some of the differences and benefits our selection has to offer.
Our very own brand of decking: you can be guaranteed the best quality. Our timber is sourced from renewable forests and all boards come in a slip-resistant 32mm finish and are treated with Tanalith E Wood preservative. This preservative will provide you with complete protection against decay and fungus, meaning you can expect your decking to last much longer.
The components of our decking include: deck sub-frames and legs, joists, decking boards, deck posts, base rails, hand rails, and spindles.
We can also supply a range of products and accessories that can help you maintain your traditional decking all year round. These include Ronseal One Coat Fence Life 12L for £11.99 inc. VAT, or Cuprinol Deck Oil Water Based 5L for £26.39 inc. VAT. Our full range of offers can be found in our Trade Best Buys leaflets in-store and on the Haldane Fisher website.
COMPOSITE (Prime, Millboard, Whiteriver)
Composite decking is a mixture of both wood and plastic fibres, resulting in a denser and often stronger decking. This easy to maintain option is superb for its anti-fungal and slip-resistant properties. We are suppliers of a number of composite decking brands, including Composite Prime, Millboard Composite, and Whiteriver.
Composite Prime is made from recycled plastic yet has the look and feel of traditional timber. It is low maintenance and promises a long lasting finish. (Fun fact - over 280 recycled plastic milk bottles are used per square metre!) Our Composite Prime Offer.

Whiteriver Decking is extremely durable as well, however this decking can be put together with a handy clip system, doing away with any screws or nails - and it is splinter-free!
Millboard decking is very high quality. Hand-moulded from natural timbers with a combination of resin and mineral stone, it is almost indistinguishable from real wood. Unlike real wood, this decking will not warp, stain or be susceptible to rot.
Our in-store experts will be able to give you much more information on each type of decking, and will be able to advise you on what make is most suitable for your home.
Whether you are planning on fitting your decking as a small intimate area for relaxing or want to cover a much larger plane, maybe even on split levels - we are able to cater for whatever your landscape is.
No matter what decision you make, decking is a cost-effective option for improving your home. A great addition for the Summer months, you’ll love spending time in your garden and can rest assured that your efforts have had a positive effect on the value of your home.
